GMS Academy Exhibition at Russo Lee Gallery
The exhibition at Russo Lee Gallery contained the visual representations of transformative relationships and collaborations between the GMS Academy participants. 17 unique creative partnerships connected artists who are housed and artists experiencing houselessness and poverty. 39 creatives working together since 2018 exhibited pieces made throughout the challenges of 2020. After a year of six feet apart, emails and video greetings, and continuing to make on their own and in small socially-distanced groups, the project participants presented their hand-painted ceramics works and a zine of poetry.
If you didn’t get a chance to see this magnificent show, we hope you will get a glimpse of how beautiful the exhibition was from this video! Not only it showcases the pieces, it tells the story of Gather:Make:Shelter through the most important aspects of our project—its participants’ histories and collaborations as told by Dana Lynn Louis.
